SACRAMENTS
Sacrament of Baptism
Baptisms are scheduled for the second
Sunday of the month during the 11:00 AM liturgy. St. Matthew Parish requires that parents
attend a workshop on this sacrament conducted by our baptism catechists, Mary and Mike
Keller and Mike and Stephanie Walsh. These workshops are held at 7:30 PM on the first
Friday of the month in the parish hall. The workshop is approximately one hour and
Godparents are encouraged to attend.
Sacrament of Penance
The Sacrament of Penance is celebrated
each Saturday at 3:30 PM or by appointment. Communal Reconciliation services are usually
held during the seasons of Advent and Lent.
Sacrament of Marriage
Couples who are planning their marriage
are asked to contact the pastor no later than six months in advance of the wedding to make
the necessary arrangements. Marriage preparation for engaged couples includes several
sessions with the pastor and attendance at one of the required diocesan programs for
engaged couples.
Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick
Communal anointing of the sick takes place
twice a year during the Sunday liturgy and is announced ahead of time. If anyone in your
family is ill and in need of this sacrament, please call the rectory, 485-2285, to make
the necessary arrangements.
Sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and
Confirmation
Preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist, and
Confirmation is based on readiness, not grade or age, and is part of the
Religious Education Program.
